‘Freedom is Fabulous’
Didn’t think the GOP convention had much of a gay party scene? Guess you weren’t at the Honey Pot last night — the site of “Homocon,” an all-night dance party hosted by the only gay Republican organization to endorse Mitt Romney, GOProud.

Trayvon Case Not Exactly Top Priority for Florida’s GOP Governor
From our Florida bureau:
Last Monday, Rick Scott—Florida’s beleaguered freshman tea party governor—made a powerful executive decision: He signed legislation to require drug tests of state employees. On Friday, he acted decisively and signed a controversial pro-school-prayer bill into law. His top cop, Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi, spent the week on one of her top priorities: promoting the state’s Supreme Court case against President Obama’s health care reforms. The state’s Republican Party this week also began airing a new pro-Scott ad, two years ahead of his next election, and Scott’s also taken to bragging about his recent legislative accomplishments.
Somewhere in there, the governor addressed Trayvon Martin’s killing…

Santorum Takes Climate Change Denial To A Biblical Level
Climate change denial has become a litmus test for modern Republicans, but Rick Santorum, in his fondness for melding faith and government, has become one of the precious few to cite the Bible as evidence that the science-accepting crowd has it all wrong — and apparently the first to bring that thinking to the presidential stage.
“We were put on this Earth as creatures of God to have dominion over the Earth, to use it wisely and steward it wisely, but for our benefit not for the Earth’s benefit,” Santorum told a Colorado crowd earlier this month.
He went on to call climate change “an absolute travesty of scientific research that was motivated by those who, in my opinion, saw this as an opportunity to create a panic and a crisis for government to be able to step in and even more greatly control your life.”
THE ENTIRE WORLD IS WATCHING THIS HAPPEN IN AMERICA! THE ENTIRE WORLD! Yes that was in all caps because I was yelling. I’m so embarrassed and I’m not the one saying this shit. But people will say, “Americans are stupid” not just Santorum and his ilk. I can’t not blog about politics because our politicians have turned into televangelists. Un-freaking-believable! ~ Kim
The Bachmann one cracks me up every time.

Rick Tyler, Newt Gingrich SuperPAC chair, in one of the most blatant examples of GOP racism in recent memory. Apparently, African-American children had no role models until Red Tails. I could barely believe what I was watching.
Watch the video for yourself:
I thought Al Sharpton was going to lose his shit completely. I wouldn’t blame him.
I would have fully supported that bitch slap. For the record, military historical societies supported the “Red Tails” screenings across the branches. It was promoted as a kick off to Black History Month. It’s also a pretty good movie.
The black community has plenty of patriotic role models. I’m married to one. This is just ignorance to the 15th power. I’m so tired of the race-baiting.
I guess I need to tell Phylicia Rashad and Neil deGrasse Tyson that they can no longer be my role models. A white man said there were no positive Black role models before “Red Tails”, so it must be true. /sarcasm
So because somehow Newt was connected to a showing of a hollywood movie featuring black flyboys as the stars, FINALLY now African Americans have role models they can be proud of. And they, of course, owe it all to Newt Gingrich. What the fuck did I miss.
Oh, and apparently those demonic democrats are aborting the black community’s children.
